 Forget for a moment about traffic leaks, forget about affiliates, forget about everything except one thing - the paysite’s tour.

I had to think REAL hard why “leaks” bother me. The answer is real simple.

When I ran my paysites and designed a tour, I didn’t have affiliates best interest in mind at all. In fact, I never thought about affiliates at all. I thought about one thing and one thing only. Taking a surfer from the point he enters my site to the join page and hopefully signup. That is ALL I cared about. Since that is all i cared about, I had both my best interest in mind and any affiliate I may have had. It worked in tandem.

Here is what I don’t understand right now when looking at paysite tours - Why do webmasters (and let’s speak in Google’s term’s) put a “vote” via a link to ANYTHING but the paysite? Do we feel someone joining a VOD program via a link or a blind link is more valuable than our join page. Do we feel that our store is more valuable? So why do paysite owners spend tons of money on content, countless hours designing tools to sell their site, only to “confuse” the fuck out of surfer when they hit the tour.

A paysite tour should be selling one thing and one thing only - the paysite. have pride in your site. Love it. Cherish it. Have faith in it. Believe that a vote (link) to your join page is more relevant than ANY other link you could possibly have.

If you look at web usability, many accept the “three click rule”. It means that at most a surfer should click three times to hit the page they are looking for. On a paysite this is the join form. Sending them off to a list of friends or a VOD or a store takes them so far away from the three click rule that it is not funny.

I will go on record as saying I despise Braincash’s tours. And with conversion fighures floating around, I don’t think surfer care that much for them. Why? The surfer comes to this page http://www.latinboysclub.com/friends.php

Do you even know what the next page is after that? THE SIGNUP FORM! Ok (finally) I am getting credit if they visit the pill site. But why have 9 “votes” (links) that those sites are better to visit than the join form? What is wrong with sending them to the signup form?

Ok. I picked on Braincash because I can’t convert their tour and I am trying to make an example about links leading away from the signup form.

So, enough. I am NOT on a sponsor witch hunt. I just have one very strong belief. That belief is WHEN I RUN PAYSITES AGAIN (and I will soon if all goes to according to plans) that the primary focus of any paysite I am involved in will be getting the surfer from the entry point to my join page and making the sale. It has worked for me in the past, I market sites that it works for and I do very well, and I know it will work for me again in the future.

MEMBERS will be able to visit any VOD thheater, Any DVD store, and all the bonus sites I plan on having. (They may see the bonus sites on the join page, but will have no way of getting there.)

A Paysite tour should be a self contained surfer trap, all leading to the join page in an easy to find way.

That’s my belief in what a paysite tour should be like. No one will ever be able to change my mind.

So, when I see all these leaks I really wonder how someone can expect me to have faith that my traffic will convert his site when it looks like he has more faith in other properties via giving votes (links) to them.

Rant done. No witch hunt. I am going through sites that I market and making sure that those I market have confidence in only one thing - their paysite. Those that I feel don’t will be replaced by paysite owners that do.
