It happens all the time - you search for a domain name that you really want, only to realize that it is already registered. Nine out of ten times it is “parked” somewhere or just leads to an empty page.

I recently had an incident in which some webmaster decided to post nude pics from my boyfriend’s paysite that was closed a while back. He then proceeded to go on the social net sites and show all my boyfriend’s friends this collection of pics on what I thought was a damn good domain name. I got the domain shut down, but still had the craving for that domain lingering. I just wanted the domain.

Not long ago I searched a site I visit somewhat frequently and to my shock it had just came off the dropped list.

For those looking for domains that are coming off the drop list a good site is expiresoft.com. Just visit the site and you can see how easy it is to search for domains that are deleted, pending deletion, in the redemption period, and on hold. Besides the one I really wanted, I have registered a few others after searching that list.

For those curious to the domain that I wanted, it was gamnow.com. I have a few ideas for that one. It’s short, easy to remember, and for those that know the asian niche a decent domain for $6.95.

For those who are looking to grab an expiring domain, your job is not quite as easy as the experience I had. A good “story” about that can be found at Mike Davidon’s blog. This is a truly great read and worth a bookmark.
