We all love incoming links, but what makes an incoming link “good”? I just got done reading an article on just that topic. Some of the characteristics mentioned in that article are:
Key word phrase in anchor text
The link is from a relevant page
The link goes to a relevant page
The link is from an authority site
The link is at the top of the page

1Definitely a good read. This is one reason why I maintain that you need to consider SEO when you are designing your website, to take these factors into account. It isn’t as simple as just adding some text.
